The Human Body
Big Ideas
Multicellular organisms have organ systems that enable them to survive and interact within their environment.
Goals:
  • to analyze the impact of human activities and technological innovations on human health;
  • investigate the structure and function of the major organs of various human body systems;
  • demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of human body systems and interactions within and between systems
Key Vocabulary:
human health, harmful effects, beneficial, skeletal system, digestive system, nervous system, circulatory system, structure, organs, nutrients, respiration, diseases
The Student can:
  • understand the social and environmental factors on human health
  • evaluate the effects of technology on human body systems
  • investigate changes in body systems
  • design and build models of organs and systems
  • identify/draw major systems in the body
  • identify common diseases and the organs that they affect
