This Tuesday we will be heading to Sutherland from 11 until 1pm for their annual Grade 9 Math Fair. This is an excellent opportunity for the kids of Div. 4 to be introduced to Sutherland and to give them a snapshot of what high school is all about. Students will be eating lunch at Sutherland and should be prepared to walk both ways regardless of weather. If you have any questions regarding this please feel free to let me know:)
We had our first knitting class and the kids did an amazing job! I would like to thank the special helpers who gave up their free time and came to help Div. 4 learn how to knit. A special thanks goes to Ms. Turner, Mrs. Hultman, Ms. Yetman, Ms. Poole, Brooke's Grandma Cathy, and our student helpers Maya, Lina, and Kasenya. As you can see by the pictures, the kids were engaged and had a lot of fun! Looking forward to see the kids develop from a novice to an expert knitter. I am so proud of this class for taking a risk and working so hard! Dear Families of Division 4,
I am thrilled to inform you that our class is going to be learning how to knit! This is an exciting opportunity that will enable the students to acquire a new skill. This experience connects well with multiple grade 5 core and curricular competencies providing cross curricular connections while providing students with a first-hand understanding of how to build community while learning and developing compassion. The goal of this project is to provide students a firsthand experience of the challenges of learning and developing a new skill. Each student will be asked to knit a square. All of the squares will then be connected, creating a blanket. The students will then present their class blanket as a gift during a walking field trip to an Eastside community. If you are interested in volunteering to help teach knitting to the students of Division 4, it would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at dearland@sd44.ca. We will be knitting on Monday afternoons (2:30-3:00) and Friday’s from 1:30 to 3:00. I am hoping to start knitting on Friday, November 25th. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate in emailing. Thank you, Mr. Earland The Remembrance Day assembly put on by Mrs. Schwarzbach and the students of Brooksbank did not disappoint. The students of Division 4 and Division 5 collaborated in singing the beautiful song, Hymn to Freedom.
There is a video of the student's performance on Fresh Grade, please take a look! The Remembrance Day assembly will take place on Thursday, November 10th starting after recess.
Furthermore, there is no school on Remembrance Day on November 11th and November 14th because of a Provincial wide Professional Development Day. |
